Welcome

The RELU-Risk project is part of a major UK research programme, Rural Economy and Land Use (RELU) funded by Research Councils UK. Our aim is to improve the effectiveness and sensitivity with which food chain risks are handled, particularly in relation to impacts on the rural community. This project is a collaboration between five organisations each bringing a unique set of skills and knowledge to this multidisciplinary research topic.

This website is one of the public faces of our project and will contain reports of all our activities, site news of upcoming events that we will be running, and our publications etc. The forums are designed to meet our objectives by stimulating discussion among stakeholders and the public. We will also explore a number of hypothetical scenarios relevant to the food chain and apply participatory techniques to demonstrate how they can work through situations involving high levels of uncertainty and differing viewpoints.

Interactive Food Chain Tool(IFCT)

Interactive Food Chain Tool

The IFCT is a risk communication tool aiming to help you visualise the food chain as a whole, and therefore think about where risks arise, and how they might be managed. The IFCT also allows you to share work with others, and learn from and comment on the given examples.

There are two versions of IFCT available at the moment, relating to our case studies. One concerns apples, the other chicken. The IFCT can be easily adapted for other cases.
